This course is an introduction to the basics of electromagnetic waves. It also introduces the fundamental concepts and principles of optics, optical waveguides and devices. Next, the course talks about the introductions to optoelectronics. Gaussian beam propagation, interaction of light and matter, spontaneous and stimulated emission, laser rate equations.
