Objective: To identify and recognize those technicians who can demonstrate knowledge of the skills necessary to diagnose, service, and repair different systems of military tactical wheeled vehicles. Tests Offered: MIL1 – Military Fundamentals MIL2 – Diesel Engines MIL3 – Drive Train MIL4 – Chassis MIL5 – Suspension, Steering, and Hydraulics MIL6 – Electrical/ Electronic Systems MIL7 – Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) MIL8 – Preventive Maintenance Checks & Services (PMCS) Master Military Technician Certification Requirements: Those who are certified in tests MIL2 – MIL8 will be recognized as ASE Certified Master Military Tactical Wheeled Vehicle Technicians. Experience Requirements for MIL1: There is no experience requirement to take the MIL1 test, as it is a fundamentals/entry-level test. The MIL1 credential is good for five years after successfully completing the test. There will not be a recertification offered for the MIL1 test. It is expected that the soldier/tech will progress to the Military Tactical Wheeled Vehicles (TWV) Tests (MIL2 – MIL8). Experience Requirements for MIL2 through MIL8: To complete the certification requirements you must submit an experience report from outlining, at minimum, two years of full-time hands-on experience working military tactical wheeled vehicles, automobiles, light trucks, or medium/heavy duty trucks. Recertification: Technicians must retest every five years to retain their certification. The Military Tactical Wheeled Vehicle recertification tests (MIL2R – MIL8R) are about half as long as the initial certification tests. There is no recertification offered for the Military Fundamentals - MIL1 Test. It is expected that the soldier/tech will progress to the Military Tactical Wheeled Vehicles (TWV) Tests (MIL2 – MIL8).
